FUEL PRICES

IN EUROPE :

Drivers were given their first real hope of a turnaround in fuel prices in the first two weeks of July. Not only has the rate of rise fallen dramatically, but most recent prices fell slightly. However, the volatility of the market guarantees that substantial price reductions in the near future are far from certain.

                        Avg.            Min.        Max.
Unleaded:   114.0p       108.9p     126.9p

LRP:            121.1p       112.9p      127.9p
Super:         121.0p       111.9p      135.9p
LPG:            58.8p         49.9p       64.9p

IN INDIA:

The fuel price hike could spark off fresh inflationary trends in the Indian economy.

Rising fuel are pushing inflation well above the government's target of between 5% and 5.5%.

The jump took many analysts by surprise. More interest rate rises are now expected.

Unlike most countries, India calculates inflation on the wholesale price of a basket of 435 basic goods, which means actual prices paid by the consumer are much higher.
